About the Artist: Erika Ferrarin

This Canadian designer and artist who was born in Venice, Italy and raised in Ottawa's Westboro district, was motivated to create Wearable Ceramics when she dropped a piece of her own ceramic work and discovered the beauty in the texture and forms of each broken piece.

She was instantly inspired and Wearable Ceramics was born!

Erika's inspiration for each sculptural piece comes from her interest in art and architecture, the simplicity of primitive tools, combined with her knowledge of the elements and principles of design, taught to her during her design studies. Her inspiration also stems from her personal life where creativity is enhanced through experimentation with multiple art mediums, drumming and African dancing, and through her professional life as an interior designer. Erika strongly believes in the importance of connecting with our surroundings, which is apparent through her design practice, and now reinforced through the creation of her art.

Wearable Ceramics is art that is adaptable in any space, whether it be hung on a wall, displayed on a shelf or adorned by a person.

Erika's Wearable Ceramics is art to be experienced!
